In Irish mythology, Goibhniu is the Blacksmith (and Hospitaller) of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Himself, Creidne the Silversmith, and Luchta the Carpenter, are the Trí Dée Dána (three gods of art), who forged the weapons which used to battle the Fomorians, which could never do him any harm. In the Lebor Gabála Érenn manuscript, he is described as "not impotent in smelting", with traditional Irish understatement.
