In the ancient days of our lands history, Ireland was known to the Romans as Hibernia, or the land of eternal winter. Its not too hard to believe when we look at the demise of the seasons and the turn towards winter darkness. For a time, Ireland was the edge of the worlds and when the sun went to its set, Ireland was believed to be the last place it touched.
In this land of darkness people looked to the wise, those gifted in the art of prophesy so that the could hold to some hope that the light would return and that life would continue. It's no wonder that The Morrigan was so important to the people of the island. The Great Queen, ruler of the Otherworld, Goddess of prophesy held sway in the dark times, for it is only from the darkness that one can truly find the light.
